Our library's ancient book revitalization work case was selected as "2024 Typical Cases of Ancient Book Digitization and Revitalization"

From August 21 to 23, 2024, the "2024 Ancient Books Digitization and Revitalization Conference" was held in Nanjing under the guidance of the National Ancient Books Protection Center, hosted by Nanjing Library (Jiangsu Ancient Books Protection Center), and organized by Library News. The list of winners of the 2024 National Ancient Books Digitization and Revitalization Typical Case Collection Activity was announced at the meeting. The "Exploring the 'Ancient Books +' Model, Let the Ancient Books in the Collection 'Go Out' and 'Live' - Typical Cases of Ancient Books Digitization and Revitalization of Nanjing Agricultural University Library" submitted by our school library (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) was selected as the "2024 Ancient Books Digitization and Revitalization Typical Cases". This is the first time that the library (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) has participated in the selection activity and was successfully selected.
The 2024 Ancient Books Digitalization and Revitalization Conference aims to discuss how relevant units and institutions such as ancient book protection and research can make good use of ancient books and serve the public, so as to better discover, protect, inherit and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture in ancient books. Before the conference, the "2024 Ancient Books Digitalization and Revitalization Typical Case Collection Activity" was carried out nationwide, which received positive responses from libraries, universities, publishing houses and other relevant units at all levels and types across the country. Among them, 12 cases were selected as typical cases of ancient book digitization and revitalization, 10 cases were selected as excellent cases of ancient book digitization and revitalization, and 10 cases were selected as nominated cases of ancient book digitization and revitalization.
It is reported that the Nanjing Agricultural University Library has been guiding teachers and students to pay attention to, understand and attach importance to excellent traditional culture such as ancient books and special collections through multiple platforms and various forms of online + offline, theory + practice, and to perceive the charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture. For example, "Ancient Books + Reproduction" orderly digitizes ancient books, makes copies of precious ancient books, compiles and publishes photocopies of ancient books, and revitalizes them on multiple platforms; "Ancient Books + New Media" makes full use of online publicity media to deeply interpret and revitalize ancient books and excellent traditional culture, such as WeChat public accounts, video accounts, electronic screens, etc., so that ancient books and excellent traditional culture can be brought closer to more people's vision; "Ancient Books + Practice" organizes and guides students to carry out practical activities, such as "Intangible Cultural Heritage into Campus Activities" and "I am a Curator" Competition, etc., to give play to the educational function of ancient books and excellent traditional culture; "Ancient Books + Elements" combines treasure collections to deeply explore the historical, cultural connotations and artistic and scientific valuesof treasure collections, and produce cultural and creative products, which actively explores the contemporary value of ancient books, and protects, inherits and develops precious ancient book cultural resources.
