On the afternoon of April 13, 2023, hosted by the Nanjing Agricultural University Library (Department of Cultural Heritage), Humanities and Social Computing Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Jiangsu Province, Professor Chu Jingli, Director of the Academic Committee of the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave an academic lecture The report "Preprints and New Academic Exchanges" was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of the Weigang Campus Library of Nanjing Agricultural University. The event was presided over by He Lin, Deputy Dean of the School of Information Management, Nanjing Agricultural University. Professor Zhu Shigui, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Nanjing Agricultural University Library, Tang Huiyan, Deputy Director (Deputy Director), Professor Huang Shuiqing of the School of Information Management, and some teacher and student representatives participated.

Professor Chu Jingli discussed from three aspects: "What is a preprint? What is a preprint platform", "Preprint platform and academic exchange mode" and "Building a new academic exchange ecosystem". He pointed out that a preprint is a manuscript (contributed version, accepted manuscript) that has not been strictly peer-reviewed by the author before submitting it to a journal for publication. It is usually published in the form of open access through the preprint platform in the shortest possible time. The right to first issue provides the latest and fastest dissemination and utilization channels for the academic exchange system. The preprint platform is a platform system that accepts and submits preprint manuscripts and provides open communication services for these manuscripts. Its essence is a new academic communication model. Facing the future, Professor Chu Jingli expects authors to understand journal preprint policies and quickly publish papers on the preprint platform; readers enhance preprint literacy and use preprint as an important source of information; journals and preprint platforms cooperate with each other, complement each other, and collaborate Win-win situation; the academic community supports the preprint platform and builds a new academic exchange system.

After the meeting, Professor Chu Jingli had a face-to-face discussion with the backbone of the library business, the editorial board members of "Journal of Nannong", "Chinese Agricultural History" and "Chinese Agricultural Education", and the key teachers of the School of Information in the conference room on the seventh floor. Chu Jingli exchanged views on the value of preprint (platform) to preprint stakeholders and academia, and the value of publishing important achievements on the preprint platform, and suggested that our school take the lead in the construction of agricultural preprint (platform). Other participants exchanged opinions and expressed doubts with Professor Chu on preprints, a new academic communication platform, from the perspectives of readers and authors, and discussed how libraries treat this kind of open resources.

Through this academic exchange, Professor Chu Jingli let the teachers and students of our school deeply understand the value of preprints and the preprint platform, opened up the scientific research ideas of our school teachers and students, and also described the construction and development of the preprint platform in our country. Bright future.
