The library adds another place for readers to study

In order to meet the various learning needs of readers and give full play to the service efficiency of the learning support center, the library (Cultural Heritage Department) has recently carried out a series of space renovations on the newspaper reading room on the fourth floor of the library on the Weigang campus to optimize the reading environment. The unique space layout effectively improves the utilization rate of space resources and adds another good place for readers to study.

The collection of current periodicals reading room on the fourth floor of the north is mainly current periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages. With the increase of digital resources such as electronic periodicals and databases, the types of paper periodicals are continuously decreasing, and the shelves of periodicals are constantly vacant. The function and layout of the room, dismantled the unused journal bookshelves, integrated the existing furniture of the library, and added 72 reading seats on the fourth floor of the north. At present, the total number of seats in this room has reached 368, making it the reading room with the most reading seats. At the same time, the seat is included in the "I go to the library" seat management system for reservation, and the problem of low seat utilization on high floors can be solved through the visualization of seat usage status. In addition, two groups of leisure sofas are added at the entrance of the reading room. The soft and comfortable seats are equipped with small white fan-shaped tables, which is the best configuration for reading periodicals and newspapers. After this transformation, the indoor reading space has been fully utilized, and the reading environment is comfortable and pleasant.

The brand-new reading room for newspapers and periodicals has been well received by various readers. The self-study students are delighted by the sufficient number of available seats, and the readers who read the newspapers say that they can relax physically and mentally by reading books and newspapers on the comfortable sofa seats. Everyone believes that readers of deep learning and leisure reading have their own places, and this state is what an ideal library looks like.
