The Library (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) and the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangsu Province held a book donation ceremony

On the afternoon of February 16 , 2023 , the library (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) welcomed Sun Yan, Director of the Place Name Division of the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangsu Province, to donate books, communicate, and held a complete set of "Standard Place List of Jiangsu Province" Book donation ceremony, symposium.

The donation ceremony was held in the conference room on the seventh floor of the library (Cultural Heritage Department). At the donation ceremony, Zhu Shigui, Secretary of the Library (Cultural Heritage Department), accepted the book donation. The deputy director (deputy director) Tang Huiyan, the deputy dean of the School of Humanities and Social Development Qi Xiaoming, etc., the director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Civil Affairs Dai Yuling, Sun Meng, etc. attended the donation ceremony and had discussions and exchanges.

First of all, Director Sun Yan introduced the background of the release of the complete set of the donated book "Jiangsu Province Standard Gazetteer". "Jiangsu Provincial Standard Place List" aims to systematically introduce the current situation of Jiangsu's administrative divisions, natural geography, urban construction, rural development, economy and culture, transportation and water conservancy, etc. A geographical name reference book with strong pertinence and high quality, a monograph on geographical names integrating knowledge, practicality and professionalism. The book is a comprehensive volume of Jiangsu Province. The full set is divided into three volumes: upper, middle and lower. Only 500 sets are printed for the first time. From July 2014 to October 2018, which took more than three years, our province completed the second census of place names, fully investigated the details of place names in the province, and established an accurate and detailed place name database. The book contains a total of 27,897 pieces of standard place name information, 14 maps, a total of more than 1.72 million words, and completed the collection and editing of more than 20,000 standard place names.

Curator Guo Zhongxing expressed his warm welcome to Sun Yan and his party, and thanked her for bringing this gift with profound cultural heritage, so that more readers can enjoy the subtle influence behind this culture. He said that China's place names are also included in the ranks of cultural heritage, and the specification of standard place names has positive significance for the protection of place name culture, the promotion of traditional culture, and the enhancement of the cultural transmission and influence of place names. Secretary Zhu Shigui, while expressing his gratitude, proposed the idea that the party organizations of both parties can carry out joint learning and joint construction based on the location of red place names in Jiangsu. Through cooperation and exchanges, librarians can better understand the influence of traditional place name culture in Jiangsu and carry forward and inherit it. Party members of the Department of Civil Affairs Division and Place Names better promote the culture of place names among teachers and students in colleges and universities. After the meeting, Sun Yan and his party visited the Chinese Agricultural Civilization Museum of Nanjing Agricultural University with great interest.

This book donation is also of positive significance to the construction of literature resources of the library (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) , which enriches the collection in terms of content and opens a window for foreign cooperation and exchanges in terms of form. In the future, we will also actively strive for donations and resource support from social forces to accelerate the development of various undertakings in the department .
