December 13, 2018 is the fifth national memorial day for the victims of the nanjing massacre. It is also the 81st anniversary of the nanjing massacre. The first party branch of the library and the reader service department jointly organized teachers and students in the library to observe a minute's silence for the memorial day.

Eighty-one years ago today, invading Japanese troops occupied nanjing, China. In the following month, more than 300,000 Chinese people were massacred, creating a shocking incident of the nanjing massacre. On November 23, a meeting of the standing committee of the people's congress of jiangsu province unanimously passed the nanjing municipal regulations on the protection of public sacrifices, which will take effect today.

In order to deeply cherish the memory of the deceased, party members and some librarians of our library read out the "proposal for silence on memorial day", which proposed that all readers stand up for silence in the long sound of 10:01-10:02 am. By observing a minute's silence of silence, we will truly remember the innocent victims of the nanjing massacre, all the compatriots killed by the Japanese invaders, the revolutionary martyrs and national heroes who gave their lives for the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression, and further promote the great national spirit with patriotism at its core.
